A living will is important because it provides the doctors or any other health care providers with information to prolong a persons life or not in a case the he or she cannot speak for themselves.
When should someone make a living will?
If you are eighteen years old with a job then would be the time to go to a lawyer. When your at a lawyer your options are to either choose to be on life support or not.
When making a living will you will fill out:
If you want cardiac resuscitation
If you want mechanical respiration
If you want tube feeding or any artificial form of nutrition or hydration
If you want blood
If you want any form of surgery or diagnostic tests
If you want kidney dialysis
If you want antibiotics
If you want a surrogate (another person) to make any decisions over time
